Day 1
Meeting in Bari and transfer to Castellana Grotte, where we stay for the next four nights. In the afternoon visit of its famous grottos, a 3 Km phantasmagorical labyrinth of caves.

Day 2
Starting from Polignano a Mare, a pretty ancient town built on a spur of rock above the sea, we will take an easy walk along the jagged coastline offering scenic views on high cliffs and sea caves (3 hours). In the afternoon, visit of Alberobello, capital of the Trulli, characteristic houses with conical roofs decorated with painted symbols.

Day 3
Following the course of the Apuliae acqueduct, an early ‘900 engineering masterpiece, we will walk through Mediterranean bush and ancient forests in the typical landscape of the Murgia hills (3 hours). After a picnic lunch with local products, we will visit Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy, renowned for its good wines.

Day 4
Heading to Otranto, where we spend the last two nights, we will stop in Agnano to visit a cave witnessing past religious cults and hike on a cattle-track among olive groves and cork oakwoods up to a medieval rupestrian sanctuary. (4 hours) In the afternoon we will explore Ostuni, a city fortress with its dazzling white walls mounted one on the other.

Day 5
Setting off to the steep cliff towards the nearby promontory, we will pass by suggestive watch towers built during the Spanish domination to reach a fascinating bay and a tiny lake with smeraldine waters, returning to Otranto through the Valley of the Memories (4 hours). In the afternoon, we will visit Otranto, by the Byzantine imprinting.

Day 6
This morning we will take a guided walking tour of Lecce, capital of the Salentine baroque and an authentic open air musem. In the afternoon, departure transfer to Bari.
